A team of T-Mobile employees were on hand Friday in Lovelock to announce the successful award of $50,000 to the City of Lovelock for the T-Mobile Hometown Grant, one of 25 communities across the country that was successful in the quarterly application process.

Heidi Lusby-Angvick, Executive Director of the Pershing County Economic Development Authority who wrote the grant application, said the funding will go to help complete the Fitness Court at Amhurst Park. So far the community has secured $160,000 for the equipment and $15,000 for cement for the fitness court.

“This is another step in the refresh of the park,” Lusby-Angvick said, “we’ve done the sidewalks and are in the process of pickleball courts, next step are the playground and the dog park.”

Austin Lantrip is the Store Manager of the T-Mobile store in Reno, explained that “In 2021 T-Mobile began a massive commitment to rural areas across America, and we congratulate the City of Lovelock on their Amhurst Park project to provide a dedicated outdoor space for healthy living.”

Over 700 communities apply for the Hometown grant every quarter, according to Sinjin Chun, Retail Store Manager of T-Mobile in Reno, with the goal of investing $25 million in 500 rural towns over five years to jumpstart projects and build stronger communities.
