In January 2021, an energetic and innovative group of caring citizens came together to form a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization named Twilight Twinkles. Our initial goal was to create a “December to Remember.” We wanted to bring our community back together after a challenging pandemic year filled with financial burdens, unexpected changes, and the many curveballs thrown at our community and country.
Our mission was to support annual events that were scheduled to return after the 2020 shutdown and to create additional activities and opportunities for community members and businesses to come together during the holiday season.
In 2022, we launched the annual Christmas Gala and Community Auction to provide a festive holiday gathering while raising funds for various community organizations. Participants were encouraged to create auction items of Christmas décor and donate them, with the creator selecting the recipient of the funds. The auction operates as a silent auction, with attendees frequently checking the latest bids. Additionally, there is an online bidding option for those unable to attend in person.
The gathering has proven to be very successful. A local DJ plays an array of holiday favorites, creating a joyful atmosphere for dancing or simply relaxing and enjoying the music. Finger foods are provided by local food establishments and Twilight Twinkles members, and a no-host bar is available for guests 21 and older.
One of the evening’s most popular activities is Take A Chance, Santa Cash. Plastic Santa boots containing gift cards donated by local businesses, cash, or candy are sold for $5 each, offering a fun surprise for participants.
This year’s Gala, held on December 13, 2024, raised $980 for 11 organizations despite current economic challenges. Special thanks and recognition go to all the donors, participants, and helpers who made this year’s Gala such a huge success. We hope to see even more attendees at next year’s event.
